The Mediterranean Table

Our Philosophy

The Mediterranean Table

There are places you go to eat. And then there are places that change the rhythm of your day — where you arrive as a guest and leave as something slightly different. Adyar Gastronomy is the second kind.

Nestled in a pine and oak forest in Kfifan, Batroun — eight minutes from the highway, a world away from everything else — Adyar Gastronomy is a reservation-only gastronomic sanctuary open Tuesday through Sunday. Not a restaurant you walk into. A destination you choose, plan for, and surrender to.

The experience begins before the first dish arrives. It is in the drive up through the forest. The scent of pine and woodsmoke. The silence that replaces the city. The table set under the trees, or beside the great fireplace, or overlooking the vineyard terraces. Before a single plate is placed before you, something in you has already slowed down — and that is entirely intentional.

Here, you do not choose from a fixed menu. You compose your own journey from over 148 dishes spanning the full breadth of the Mediterranean — Lebanese village recipes slow-cooked since dawn, French classics executed without compromise, Italian traditions made with house-rolled pasta, grills of USDA Prime and Australian Wagyu marble grade 8–9 over live charcoal. Every dish made from scratch, that morning, with ingredients gathered from local farmers and the monastery lands of Saint Rafka and Saint Hardini.

We do not open cans. We do not cut corners. Our pasta, cheeses, pomegranate molasses and sauces are made in our kitchen. Some dishes have been cooking since the night before. The vine leaves since dawn. This is not a philosophy — it is simply how food must be made if it is to taste the way food once tasted.

The average stay at Adyar Gastronomy is five to six hours. Guests arrive for a celebration, for a milestone, for a Tuesday that deserved to be extraordinary, or simply because they understood that some experiences cannot be rushed and should not be. They drive from Beirut — sometimes through traffic, sometimes in the dark — and they arrive. And they stay. And when they finally leave, they are already thinking about when they will return.

Adyar Gastronomy is not about what you eat. It is about how you feel when you leave.

Your Journey

You are the author of your experience. No fixed menu is imposed on you. From 148 dishes across the Mediterranean basin, you compose exactly the meal — and the afternoon, and the evening — that you came for.

The Art of Time

Some dishes begin the night before. The vine leaves cook since dawn. The lamb shank braises for hours without interruption. We believe the most important ingredient in any kitchen is the one that cannot be bought — time given willingly.

This Land

Our ingredients are gathered from farms and monastery lands that surround us. Our cooks are from the village. Our waiters are local students we employ so they may stay in their community and earn with dignity. When you dine here, the forest feeds you in more ways than one.

Over 148 slow-cooked dishes from Lebanon, France, Italy, Greece and beyond — composed by you, prepared by us, open Tuesday through Sunday.

✦ Reservation required at least 24 hours in advance
Certain dishes are slow-cooked since dawn and require advance notice to prepare. When making your reservation, please inform us which of these dishes you would like — we will ensure they are ready at their finest when you arrive.
